Freda “The highlight of my career is the success of Cast” After starting out in the hair industry at the age of fourteen and gaining skills at London’s esteemed Salon International, Freda opened Cast in 1997. The two times L’Oreal Colour Trophy finalist has had her styling work showcased in countless hair and fashion shows, high-profile Australian and international magazines, as well as on the red-carpet for events such as the Logies and AFI awards. Freda finds constant inspiration from the vibrant and dedicated team of stylists at Cast salon to which she brings her own wealth of prestigious styling experience.
Lucy “Living and travelling overseas has broadened my outlook and shaped my vision” Lucy’s creative approach to styling has developed from her cutting experience at international salons and showcases from London and Denmark to Shanghai. She joined the Cast team as a principle stylist and manager in 2000 where her enthusiasm for the industry continues to grow with the appreciative satisfaction of loyal clients. Lucy was an American Crew National finalist in 2007 and finds styling inspiration in everything from current movements in film and theatre, to popular television series and the work of her comrades at Cast..
Linda “Working at Cast is my career highlight” Linda joined Cast in 2006 as a head colourist and stylist where she has been motivated to pursue outstanding achievements in the field, receiving accolades such as HBIA’s 1st place for colouring, 2nd place for men’s cuts, and 3rd place for women’s cuts in 2007. Linda’s training as a professional make-up artist and penchant for vintage fashion from the 1940s to the 1970s inspires her overall approach and lifelong dedication to chic and unique hair styling.
Carly “Everyone knows that a hairdresser is a counsellor without a degree!” Carly joined the Cast team as a colourist in 2007. She takes a personal approach to the styling of her clients and finds that her greatest reward comes from seeing them walk out the door with boosted confidence and a thrilled grin. Carly is excited by contemporary movements in fashion and creative design and has styled for a variety of local fashion and hair shows, as well as receiving the honour of second place for ‘Red Carpet Total Look’ at the HBIA Victoria State Awards in 2007.
Johanna “My aim is to keep my clients looking simply fabulous” Johanna began her career in Dublin, Ireland, where she cut hair in TIGI stage shows, was finalist in the L’Oreal Colour Trophy in 2004, and received a Distinction in the 2006 Wella Master of Colour Awards, before joining Cast as a cutting and styling specialist in 2007. She is addicted to the buzz that comes from satisfying her clients with new and innovative approaches in cutting and colouring, for which she draws on contemporary street style, celebrity, fashion magazines and Vidal Sassoon Classics.
Boyd I have been part of the Cast team since 1996, when the salon and the local strip of shops looked very different to how it is today. As time has gone by Cast has grown immensely, as has St Georges Rd, North Fitzroy. We know have a very progressive, ambient, flowing presence amongst the community of North Fitzroy. I have had a steady hand contributing to the quality of work, as a stylist and colorist, that has been produced in our dynamic salon. I have been a senior colorist and stylist at Cast over the years and I have participated in industry Hair Shows, which is a real buzz. I have participated in many competitions producing colour, styling and cutting, bringing home trophy’s for Cast.
Ziyad “What I love most is being able to transform someone’s look in 45 minutes.” Drawing creative inspiration from architecture, rock n roll and interior design, Ziyad has been styling, cutting and up-styling at Cast since 2007. Before joining the Cast team, he has worked at Salon International in London and perfected progressive ‘dos for a spree of national hair shows, Australian fashion events, and advertising campaigns such as the Levi Tuff Cuts billboard and Pantene TV commercials. Ziyad’s passion for current movements in music, street style and design are reflected in his use of colour and form which has seen him named L’Oreal Colour Trophy Finalist in 2005 and the American Crew National Winner for 2007-08. *“Live your dream, don’t dream your dream”*
Romy “I find a lot of inspiration from everyday people” Already an award-winning make-up artist, Romy joined Cast as an apprentice in 2007. She channels her love of contemporary design and cosmetic colour trends into her styling work on fashion photo shoots and hair showcases such as the 2007 HBIA Victoria State Awards in which she received 3rd place for her flawless blow waves. The fun loving Cast team and her regular clients, along with Melbourne’s own eclectic fashion scene, are Romy’s greatest motivations and daily inspirations.
